Associations Challenging Crypto Ads Ban to Proceed with Lawsuit

Facebook’s recent decision to partially lift the ban on crypto ads will not stop a planned legal action against the measure. Crypto associations and businesses from several countries announced earlier this year their intentions to sue internet giants imposing such restrictions. The claimants want to proceed with filing the lawsuit, despite the policy update. Also read: Study Links Social Media Posts to Bitcoin Prices Class Action Against Giants Will Be Filed The class action lawsuit against a number of international IT-corporations will be filed in court, despite the change in the advertising policy of Facebook, confirmed Yuri Pripachkin, president of the Russian Association of Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain (RACIB). His organization, along with counterparts from other countries in Europe and Asia, accuse companies like Facebook and Google of banning the ads of cryptocurrencies and ICOs as part of a cartel agreement. Bitcoin ‘On a One-way Street Going Down’ Says Futures Trader

Jim Iuorio, the managing director of TJM Institutional Services believes tougher times await Bitcoin. Speaking to CNBC, Iuorio said Bitcoin was never worth $20,000, and the top-ranked cryptocurrency is headed down a slippery slope. Bitcoin is down almost 70 percent from its all-time high of $19,500 in mid-December 2017. Bitcoin was Never Worth $20,000 According to Iuorio, Bitcoin was never worth $20,000: There’s no question that it [Bitcoin] was a bubble at [sic] 20 grand. The TJM managing director declared that negative regulations, hacking, and government aversion for decentralized systems “were the fundamental reasons to not respect BTC at $20,000.” Iuorio maintained that the negative sentiments held by governments towards Bitcoin would always drive prices lower. Regarding price movement, Iuorio said the introduction of Bitcoin futures ultimately hurt the price of the cryptocurrency. According to Iuorio, the announcement of BTC […]

LTCUSD Technical Analysis for 06/28/2018 – Another Triangle Pattern!

LTCUSD is consolidating in another symmetrical triangle pattern as it formed higher lows and lower highs on the 1-hour chart. Price is currently testing the resistance and may be due for another move to support. The 100 SMA is below the longer-term 200 SMA to signal that the path of least resistance is to the downside. In other words, the selloff is more likely to resume than to reverse. The 100 SMA is holding as dynamic resistance near the top of the triangle as well. The gap between the moving averages is widening to reflect stronger selling pressure. If the earlier consolidation pattern is any indication, LTCUSD is likely to break below this triangle as well. RSI is heading lower, also confirming that bearish momentum is present. Stochastic is just starting to make its way out of the overbought region […]

Cryptocurrency Bounty Campaigns Using Social Media Influencers for Hype

After ad bans by Google, Twitter, and Facebook, cryptocurrency enterprises, such as ICOs, have been using social media influencers to build hype. Companies have long used celebrities to hawk their products. Tobacco companies used baseball players to spike sales in the early 1900s, and soft drinks today use popular singers and models to push their cans of sugar water. The realm of cryptocurrency is no different as they use pop culture figures to build up hype and generate some revenue, but there’s a new twist to this game: social media. Influencers Lead the Herds It used to be that only people like athletes, actors, or singers were considered to be celebrities and influencers. Those days are gone forever as individuals on YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media platforms now wield considerable influence over their millions of followers. As social […]

What Is Constellation Cryptocurrency?

As things currently stand, most of the big blockchain players such as Bitcoin and Ethereum are subject to a variety of systemic limitations which hamper mass adoption. One such issue is their scalability, which is poor primarily due to the consensus mechanisms they employ. In addition to this, currencies such as BTC make use of an underlying smart contract architecture that cannot be deployed for consumer grade applications. Constellation can be viewed as a fault resistant, horizontally scalable, distributed operating system that has the capacity to implement full nodes as a mobile client. This helps foster a more secure framework that does not depend upon a single server. The platform makes use of specialized service modules including: The ExtendedTrustChain (ETC) consensus model Proof-of-Meme consensus model The system also deploys smart contracts as composable microservices which utilize the Java Virtual Machine […]

Japan Introduces Additional Crypto Regulation to Crack Down on Money Laundering

Japan is a very different country when it comes to cryptocurrency activity. With its open-minded approach and legitimization of Bitcoin, an interesting situation has been created. It now seems officials will subject crypto investors to credit evaluations. Another Positive Regulatory Development In Japan, cryptocurrency regulation has become rather interesting to keep an eye on. More specifically, it seems there has been a growing focus on legitimizing this particular industry, even though other countries across Asia are taking a far more negative approach in this regard. While Japan may be the odd duck in the pond right now, its regulators are continuously working to bring more legitimacy to Bitcoin. Their latest venture comes in the form of credit evaluations. Reports suggest that the current goal is to introduce “invasive credit checks for cryptocurrency investors”. While that may sound strange at first, […]

New EU Directive Further Erodes Cryptocurrency Anonymity

A lot of people still assume all cryptocurrencies are anonymous. That is not the case, though, and it seems that situation will only become more apparent moving forward. EU regulators are actively cracking down on any and all anonymity associated with cryptocurrency, which could have all kinds of consequences. Another Crackdown on Crypto Anonymity Over the past few years, the battle lines have been drawn between regular cryptocurrencies and projects embracing anonymity and privacy. Bitcoin, while long assumed to be an anonymous cryptocurrency, is clearly too transparent to be of any great value to criminals or other individuals who want to remain anonymous. This is only exacerbated by the increasing number of blockchain analysis firms. To make things even more interesting, Japanese officials have officially barred the trading of anonymous cryptocurrencies. More specifically, they have asked all domestic exchanges to […]

Making cryptocurrency more appealing to the masses is one of the more interesting social experiments to keep an eye on. So far, no real progress has been made other than for speculative purposes. Pigzbe may be introducing a major change in this regard, as its cryptocurrency wallet is primarily designed for children and young adults. Pigzbe Is a Remarkable Crypto Project Whereas the rest of the world is often concerned with making cryptocurrency more appealing to adults, there is another important demographic which shouldn’t be overlooked. Children need to learn the true meaning of money as well, and it seems Bitcoin may very well be the perfect tool to convey this message. Cryptocurrency Exchange Insurance Policies Remain Difficult to Come By

Running a cryptocurrency exchange may seem easy on paper. In the real world, it is very difficult. Dealing with new users, ensuring operations remain normal, and even obtaining insurance are just some of the struggles these companies go through. Insuring a Cryptocurrency Exchange There is a good reason why any cryptocurrency exchange needs to be insured. Given that these companies act as custodians over customers’ funds, protecting that money has become more important than ever before. Due to a mounting number of exchange hacks and thefts, having such insurance policies can help legitimize cryptocurrency exchanges. Unfortunately, it would appear virtually all exchanges are struggling in this regard. This is not due to a lack of effort, mind you, but rather because taking out an insurance policy as a cryptocurrency exchange has become even more challenging in recent years. It seems […]

Could Cryptocurrency And Blockchain Jump-Start Japan’s Next Economic Boom?

Japan’s GDP has slowed and stagnated over the past 20 years, but some think that it is on the verge of a technology fuelled “boom” — with strong feelings that blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies could spark the nation’s stalled economy.  ‘The Lost Decade’ In the 1970’s and throughout most of the 1980’s, Japan’s GDP exploded blowing — past Germany and China to the number two spot in the world. However, GDP levels peaked in 1995, and have since then remained fairly flat. Japan is striving to escape this ‘Lost Decade’, as it is referred to. In an article from The Economist, Noah Smith suggests that the only ways for Japan to return to its early 1990’s high growth rates are through ‘an unprecedented technological boom’ or a high spike in productivity. The latter is unlikely, however, due to a diminishing workforce and […]

Will Cryptocurrencies Replace Gold?

The value surge of Bitcoin in 2017 has piqued the interest of the financial community and raised the question as to whether cryptocurrencies will replace gold as the dominant safe haven investment. Mad Money host Jim Cramer argues digital tokens will not be replacing gold as a repository of value in the foreseeable future. Along with most other financial analysts, we’re inclined to agree with Cramer. Investing in gold is a centuries old response to geopolitical instability and economic meltdowns. Spikes in historical gold charts can all be linked with world events that weakened the strength of fiat currencies. Like gold, Bitcoin has shown that prices rise in relation to political events. But does this mean there is any validity in replacing the yellow metal with digital currencies? Gold is a physical asset The strongest argument the crypto-community has is […]

ING Experts Present a Bullish Outlook for Cryptocurrency Adoption

It is evident the year 2018 has not been kind to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. With the prices still in the dirt compared to late 2017, interest in these assets should be waning. According to some experts, that is anything but the case. In fact, ING believes interest in Bitcoin will spike in late 2018. What Comes Next for Bitcoin? That is perhaps one of the most often-asked questions in 2018. Considering that the current situation looks anything but promising, it seems there will be even more carnage across all cryptocurrency markets moving forward. Even so, this dip was anything but surprising to those who have been involved in cryptocurrency for more than three months. Such bearish cycles happen quite regularly and can take months, if not a year or longer, to fully complete. As such, one would expect Bitcoin […]

[He added that this makes them ‘tailor-made for money laundering.’] During the 2016 presidential election, cryptocurrencies were not widely used. Now, though, they are considered a “formidable weapon,” according to witnesses and senators, reports Bloomberg Quint. Monero Price: Green Territory Where Others Remain in the Shallow Red

With the day almost coming to a close, it would appear there may be some positive short-term momentum for all cryptocurrencies. A few coins have gone in the green, whereas the others have recovered from the most recent setback. The Monero price continues to impress, as it has gained another 2.47%. Monero Price Hold its own Quite Well Monero has always been one of those “oddball” cryptocurrencies when compared to other top coins. Not because it doesn’t have any potential, but rather because it is so often overlooked, for some unknown reason. Enter the 23rd Century Smart City

The rise of smart cities will be propelled by emerging trends such machine learning, blockchain, and IoT. While it is easy to visualize a smartphone, a smart TV, or even a smart car — the quintessential smart city might largely elicit confusion from the public. In theory, the word “smart” – with regards to electronic devices or data- means the appliance is programmed so as to be capable of some independent action. This in mind, a smart city would imply a certain jurisdiction or area to process, address, utilize, and make decisions on the millions of data inputs the thousands of smart sensors in that area take in. For example — a smart state-issued parking app that helps drivers find available parking spaces without scavenging street after street for those few meters of space. The police were tipped off by local power grid operators who reported a surge in electricity usage and, upon investigation, unearthed the illicit mining operation. How Blockchain is Making Big Data More Useful

Data is everywhere in today’s world. Thanks to our constant connectivity, pretty much everything we do generates data in some way, from making a phone call to taking a hike. A lot of this is down to the growth of technologies like the Internet of Things and our increasing reliance on smartphones and similar personal gadgets, not to mention our obsession with social media. Here’s a pretty startling fact: about 90% of all the data that exists was generated during the last two years. That’s a staggering rate of change. When we analyse it properly though, using the right technology, that data can be extremely useful. It provides […]
