Prodeum ICO Defrauds Investors as Website Vanishes

In the world of initial coin offerings, there are plenty of scams to be wary about. No matter how legitimate a project may look, there’s always a real chance the team will run away with your money. It seems that is exactly what has happened in the case of Prodeum, a recent Ethereum-based project. Either its website was defaced, or the team simply performed a clever exit scam. It’s another warning sign as to why people should conduct their due diligence first and foremost. Prodeum ICO Turns Into an Exit Scam It is neither the first nor the last time we will see an ICO project defraud investors. Even though Prodeum seemingly had an interesting future ahead, the team has apparently pulled a very quick exit scam. The project itself involves tracking produce on the Ethereum blockchain, a mission that will certainly […]

What Is Komodo?

Some cryptocurrency users may have heard the name Komodo before. It is a pretty intriguing project, even though most people don’t know how its technology is being used right now. It seems Komodo will play an integral role in the future of atomic swaps, even though that is not the only thing its developers are focusing on right now. There’s a lot more to this project than meets the eye; that much is evident. What is Komodo’s End Goal? For a project which positions itself as an end-to-end blockchain solution, Komodo is certainly ambitious. The team wants to focus on letting others create independent blockchains through their Modular Platform. It is equally possible to launch a decentralized initial coin offering or dICO. Canada: ‘No Tax Changes’ For Bitcoin As Govt. Unveils Blockchain ID Scheme

Canada has unveiled a government Blockchain identity prototype while declining to change Bitcoin tax rules at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2018. ‘We Don’t Plan Any Overhaul’ – Finance Minister As multiple sources report Monday, the country’s finance minister, Bill Morneau, said the government “has no plans” to change tack on how cryptocurrency is treated under Canadian tax law. “We don’t have any specific Bitcoin or cryptocurrency overhaul,” he told Bloomberg on the fringes of the event. The comments contrast with those of central bank chief Stephen S. Poloz, who, in a presentation in December, called Bitcoin one of the things that “keeps him awake at night” and cautioned on investment. Instead of cementing hard-and-fast tax regulation in line with countries such as South Korea this month, Morneau allied his view with those of UK prime minister Theresa May and […]

DressCode Android Botnet Remains Active 16 Months After Its Discovery

Botnets have proven to be a major pain in the rear for both security researchers and consumers. DressCode, one of the oldest Android botnets in existence, is still operational 16 months after it was initially discovered. This is a very real problem, as the malware opens a direct connection to infected phones. It is unclear why this solution still thrives in 2018, especially considering that most of the infected Google Play apps were removed over a year ago. DressCode Botnet is Still a Problem In the world of internet security, there are still plenty of things which need to change sooner rather than later. One of the main priorities is finding a way to eliminate botnets once and for all. Japan’s financial regulator has ordered hacked exchange Coincheck to “improve” but appears uninterested in restricting cryptocurrency activities. Bitcoin Price Drops to $11,225 and Remains Stuck in Sideways Momentum

Although the value of one Bitcoin is still 1 BTC, the USD value is slowly dropping to $11,000 and potentially lower again. Another bad day for the Bitcoin Price Looking at the Bitcoin price for the past 7 days, it is safe to say there have been nearly a dozen ups and downs. Things started out decently a week ago, with an initial Bitcoin price of just over $11,500. Unfortunately, there is a lot of market volatility, which sends the market up and down on a regular basis. Ether Rising – Up 30% in a Week

January has been a pretty slow month for all cryptocurrencies. The majority of them have not made a recovery from the big slump two weeks ago. Ethereum has now garnered the attention of mainstream media, such as Forbes, which recently reported about its upward momentum.
