Ether Rising – Up 30% in a Week

January has been a pretty slow month for all cryptocurrencies. The majority of them have not made a recovery from the big slump two weeks ago. Bitcoin, as usual, has commanded the big selloff, but Ethereum has remained relatively resilient to downward pressures and has posted solid gains over the past couple of days. Ethereum has now garnered the attention of mainstream media, such as Forbes, which recently reported about its upward momentum. A major market correction was expected, and it has been surmised that such corrections are a naturally occurring thing for cryptocurrencies at this time of year. Ether Rising According to Livecoinwatch.com, which includes South Korean markets, Ethereum is up over $1,200 from a low of $930 this time last Monday. This represents a weekly rise of 30%. The same cannot be said of Bitcoin, which has conversely […]

That in itself is rather remarkable in its own way, especially when considering how the weekend is usually a period during which we see far more volatility. The NEO price is slowly approaching the $150 mark once again, which indicates there is strong momentum in place. Whether or not this is the beginning of a major NEO price boom, remains to be determined at this point. NEO Price Surges a bit It is refreshing to see all top 15 cryptocurrencies in the green on a Sunday afternoon. This doesn’t happen all that often, especially not since all markets took a massive hit in early January. We have to enjoy this positive momentum while it lasts, though, as things quickly turn around in the world of cryptocurrency right now. The NEO price […]

Lab-Grown Food Now Encompasses Meat, Poultry, Fish, and Dairy

In the world of science, there is a growing focus on creating a new type of food. Rather than growing animals for slaughter, it involves growing chicken, meat, and even fish inside a laboratory. While some people would expect this food to taste bland or even horrible, it seems the reality is very different. With meat, fish, eggs, and even dairy now coming out of a lab, an interesting future awaits. Growing Food Inside a Lab Remains Strange Most people would not see the appeal of lab-grown food over regular produce bought in a store around the corner. If people don’t know the exact origin of their food, it is doubtful few will question its nature. However, there is a clear difference between veggies and meat, for instance. The same applies to any edibles coming out of a lab, even though that’s changing rapidly. […]

The 2018 Year of Cryptocurrency Challenge – Week 4

At the beginning of 2018, I wrote an article outlining a New Year’s resolution that I thought could help boost cryptocurrency adoption and awareness in 2018. Last week was the third installment of my Year of Cryptocurrency Challenge. Since I was at a conference last week, this week I tried to talk to people outside of work who knew relatively little about cryptocurrency. Remember, it’s not too late to start this challenge yourself. TRY TO SPEAK TO AS MANY PEOPLE ABOUT CRYPTOCURRENCY AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN This is way easier than it would have been even a year ago. At that time, everyone still thought that cryptocurrency was for the fringe of society, but now it’s becoming more mainstream. Amid the cries of “I could have gotten in before, but didn’t” and similar bemoaning, here is the best, new conversation I had this […]

Bitcoin Futures Report Shows Bullish Sentiment Is In the Air

Bitcoin and cryptocurrency markets, in general, have been bearish during the first month of 2018 after many digital assets reached all-time price highs this past December. A lot of people have been following the correlation between the newly added bitcoin-based derivatives markets offered by Cboe and CME, alongside bitcoin spot prices over the past four weeks. Over the last few weeks, most of the bitcoin futures contracts have been bearish as traders forecasting the recent downtrend in value ‘shorted’ the market. However, according to recent data, bitcoin-futures bets are showing that a great majority of the contracts are betting ‘long’ on bitcoin’s price — predicting that BTC’s value will be rising shortly. Why Venezuela’s New National Cryptocurrency El Petro Will Fail

Washington and legacy media are in a tizzy about Venezuela reportedly thwarting international sanctions by way of a dreaded state-backed cryptocurrency. A closer look reveals several stumbling blocks for the Bolivarian Republic: nonexistent reserves, hyperinflation, centralization, and the impossibility of actual redemption. The attempt will fail, if it’s ever rolled out, adding woes to a region plagued by years of monetary failure. Also read: Tezos Swiss Foundation Concept is “Old, Inflexible and Stupid” Venezuela’s Desperation Leads to Crypto Rice University’s Francisco Monaldi put it succinctly to Foreign Policy, “The idea that it is a currency backed by reserves is pure fiction. So you are left with a currency issued by a country in hyperinflation and in default,” dismissing out of hand the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela’s attempt at a state-backed cryptocurrency, the Petromoneda (Petro). Geographically, Venezuela is the envy of most countries. Sitting […]

On Tribalism in Crypto Communities

A major point of criticism since the inception of cryptocurrency has involved the community surrounding and promoting the technology. From the original anarcho-capitalists of Bitcoin, to the elitist fan groups of individual altcoins, crypto enthusiasts have, in the eyes of many, contributed to an uninviting environment for the potential new recruit. Perhaps the most prominent shortcoming of the general cryptocurrency population is the tribalistic nature surrounding certain altcoins. A number of coins embody an environment unwelcoming of, and even hostile towards, other coins and communities. While these sentiments are promoted by supporters of the coin, they are often perpetuated and rewarded by the often ill-intentioned developer team, who craft a perpetually loyal, cult-like following that is unwavering in its support for the project. Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is an obvious example of such an environment. Across crypto and non-crypto social media circles alike, Bitcoin Cash supporters are often seen […]

Masked Gunmen Steal ‘Fortune’ in Bitcoin in Daylight UK Robbery

The very first UK Bitcoin robbery occurred when four armed men broke into a home and forced a crypto trader to transfer a “fortune” in Bitcoin. The meteoric rise of Bitcoin over the course of 2017 featured a number of positive effects. A lot of people made a good deal of money, and media and public interest in cryptocurrency reached new heights. However, a downside to such attention is that criminals now see physically stealing Bitcoin or money used to buy crypto as a viable way to make money. A family in the UK found this out the hard way when four armed men broke into their home and forced the husband to transfer his bitcoins. Terrifying Ordeal It’s being called the first Bitcoin robbery in the UK, and it took place in Moulsford, Oxfordshire, a wealthy enclave, during the […]

Blockchain-Based Platform Becomes a B2B Disruptor
