Kik Premium Chat Themes Are the First Kin Token Use Case

One of the more interesting initial coin offerings was the one organized by Kik. The popular messaging application issued its own native token, known as Kin. Although that took place some time ago, it has taken until now to officially integrate the new token into the Kik ecosystem. Kin Functionality Has Arrived With any initial coin offering, the use cases for the new currency may not become apparent immediately. In the case of Kin, things were no different, even though the Kik team had a clear plan from day one. The social messaging giant was working on incorporating this token into its existing ecosystem without disrupting any of the existing functionality. After several months of trying to figure out the correct approach, Kin has now become a useful native asset. More specifically, the Kik team has outlined how this new […]

TRON Price: Sharks are Looking to Push the Value Below $0.035

It has not been a good week for cryptocurrencies. The way things look right now, the coming weekend won’t offer much of a relief in this regard. Judging by the current momentum, the TRON price will struggle for stability. Its current decline to $0.035 may only be the beginning of what is yet to come later this week. TRON Price Battle Continues Due to all major cryptocurrencies continually losing value this week, the TRON price has undergone some big changes. None of those changes have resulted in any positive developments, as the $0.04 price level couldn’t be maintained h the process. Earlier this week, that still seemed to be possible, as a dip below $0.042 was bought up quickly. Even so, the TRON price has continued to drift lower ever since that time. As of right now, it seems highly […]

The NY Times ‘Blockchain Influencers’ List is a Joke…Right?

When a major publication like The New York Times considers you a leader or ‘influencer’ in the blockchain space, chances are you’re probably working for a bank or the government.  Here Come The ‘Blockchain Influencers’ In an industry inspired by Bitcoin, specifically created to shun authority and eliminate trust, the idea of leaders seems like a joke to anyone who’s been in this space longer than a year. The good news is that not a single Bitcoin Core developer made it on the list — which can be interpreted as a stamp of approval for those who appreciate leaderless, and even anonymous, open-source code development. The bad news is that the given list continues to perpetuate the abstract idea of ‘blockchain’ that even The New York Times admits is still vaporware that “is supposed to be all about distributing power and […]

Cardano Price: Negative Pressure Continues to Mount

The cryptocurrency markets remain in a state of flux, for the time being. Although it seems there may be some short-term positive momentum later today, the actual price trend remains rather negative. If the Cardano price is any indication, the coming weekend may not result in anything overly positive. Bitcoin Hasn’t Lost Its Way – It’s Just Getting Started

Bitcoin has seen a massive decline in 2018 and it looks like it may get worse before it gets better. It is leaving investors grasping for reasons why the world’s top cryptocurrency is falling so hard, with some wondering – could this be it for Bitcoin? Has Bitcoin Lost Its Way? Interest in Bitcoin – and cryptocurrencies in general – reached a frenzied pitch back in December of last year as mainstream media sources scrambled to cover the digital currency’s meteoric rise to an all-time high of near $20,000. Since then, however, that surge has lost much of its momentum as prices continue to decline. Although Bitcoin continues to appear in the mainstream media spotlight on a near-daily basis, the focus has shifted to the price decline as well as speculation on just how low the cryptocurrency could go. It […]

IOTA Technical Analysis for 06/29/2018 – Short-Term Triangle Break

IOTA broke down from its symmetrical triangle consolidation pattern to signal that further losses are in the cards. The chart pattern spans 0.8800 to 1.0600 so the resulting drop could be of the same height. The 100 SMA is below the longer-term 200 SMA to confirm that the path of least resistance is to the downside. This means that the drop is more likely to carry on than to reverse. However, the gap between the moving averages is narrowing to signal that bearish pressure is slowing. Stochastic is also pulling out of oversold levels to signal a return in bullish momentum. Similarly RSI is starting to crawl higher, also signaling that buyers are returning while sellers take a break. In that case, IOTA could still pull back to the broken triangle bottom before heading further south. The dollar has been […]

3 Reasons to Include Cryptocurrencies in Your Retirement Portfolio

It is never too late to start planning for retirement. When doing so, most people shy away from risky (read: volatile) investments like Bitcoin, but that may be soon changing. For people planning their financial future, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies represent a hedge against the current financial system. Setting Money Aside for the Future Almost everyone has heard of the importance of actively saving money for retirement. Many people are maxing out their 401(k) contributions, socking money away in a traditional IRA, or investing in mutual funds. Most retirement plans subscribe to the “contribute and coast” mentality. However, to keep everything running smoothly and to help ensure maximum earnings, planning your finances needs semi-regular reassessment as the global financial landscape changes. Cryptocurrencies may be one of the biggest financial changes we have seen in the past few decades. Cryptocurrencies bring […]

The 2018 Crypto-Bear Market Less Severe Than 2014, At Least for Now

Bitcoin prices back in 2013 touched a high of $1,236 per BTC on December 4, and following that spike the price dropped for more than a year, all the way to $225 per coin on June 1, 2015. Last year in 2017 the price of BTC ran up higher, but this time reached $19,600 per coin, and it has lost considerable value since then. At the moment mainstream media (MSM) is reporting on how people who bought at the height in 2017 have lost quite a bit of their investment, but MSM has failed to report that this year’s dip is less, percentage wise, than the losses in 2013 and the extent of $19K to $6K loss has been far less severe. IRS Ramping Up Investigations Into Unreported Cryptocurrency Gains

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is stepping up its investigations into cryptocurrency-related tax fraud and unreported taxable gains. Clearer laws and guidelines are expected in the near future and could open the door to litigation and penalties against those who fail to cooperate. ‘I Think The Jury Is Still Out’ Reporting and paying taxes on cryptocurrencies is a topic of confusion among investors and lawmakers alike, while the Internal Revenue Service has been collecting more and more data from cryptocurrency exchanges over the course of this year. In January, exchange giant Coinbase lost a court case against the IRS, allowing the bureau access to the financial documents of around 13,000 of the popular exchange’s customers. The IRS says that very few taxpayers actually report and pay tax on their cryptocurrency transactions. Tax attorney Steven Toscher said recently during New York University’s Tax […]

BoE: Cryptocurrencies Pose ‘Reputational Risks’

The Bank of England has reportedly cautioned City bosses away from implementing cryptocurrencies into their business plans — citing all the usual reasons one has probably come to expect. ‘Reputational Risks’ “In their short history, crypto-assets have exhibited high price volatility and relative illiquidity,” wrote Bank of England Deputy Governor Sam Woods in a letter to the chief executives of banks, insurers, and fund managers — as reported by The Telegraph, adding: Crypto-assets also raise concerns related to misconduct and market integrity. Many appear vulnerable to fraud and manipulation, as well as money-laundering and terrorist financing risks. Woods also claims that involvement with cryptocurrency-related activities may pose “reputational risks.” A History of Negativity This news does not come as much of a surprise, of course, given that the Bank of England has been notably negative in regards to cryptocurrency for months […]

Here are the 3 best ways to spend your precious cryptocurrencies today

However, if you were smart enough to get your hands on any of the 1600 cryptocurrencies available, simply holding the precious coins tucked away in a mega-protected wallet might be a bit of a turn-down. Remember that Satoshi Nakamoto invented Bitcoin to be used on a daily basis instead of institutional printed money and the first attempts to use Bitcoin to buy (mostly) illegal stuff on Silk Road gave us the first glimpse of the amazing potential of this decentralized currency and can’t be shifted away. Bitcoin was never meant to become an investment vehicle, it has been created to replace traditional money, finally shaking greedy banks to their core. Today, […]

Cryptocurrency’s Real Value More Than Bitcoin Price Measured in US Dollars

The cryptocurrency industry is not just about Bitcoin. Albeit it may seem that way for most, there is a lot more to this industry. With so many new currencies and tokens launching, keeping tabs on the bigger picture becomes all the more important. Looking Beyond Bitcoin When people discuss cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin will be named fairly quickly. It is the world’s leading cryptocurrency, after all. Additionally, all alternative currencies derive most of their value from BTC due to it being the market leader. It is a very intriguing and intricate ecosystem in this regard. However, Bitcoin is still only a facet of the industry and should be treated as the whole enchilada. Besides BTC, there are several thousands of other currencies. Cryptocurrency and Philanthropy: Top 3 Blockchain Platforms for Giving Back

Between investment portfolios, asset management, and regular conversations about HODLing, there isn’t much talk of charitable deeds. Lightning Network Can’t Guarantee Transactions Larger Than 3 Cents…Yet

Digital assets industry newsletter Diar.co has poured cold water on Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, claiming low transaction success rates and issues with node dominance. A Classic Beta Landscape? In its latest issue June 25, the weekly publication identified statistics about the current state of Lightning, highlighting problems for which the likelihood of improvement remains “unclear.” “Nodes are up by 8600% and the Bitcoin funds on the network are up by 3600% from the start of the year. It’s less clear, however, whether the concentration of capacity amongst the largest nodes will improve with more adoption,” Diar writes. The criticism focuses on the fact that the ten largest Lightning nodes currently hold over half the network’s 25 BTC in funds. Among those are early mover businesses, which added payment functionality, including top-up service Bitrefill and payment network Living Room of Satoshi. Such […]

What Is ABEE?

Ride-sharing has become a lot more popular over the past few years. While not all of these ventures are well-received, there is still plenty of room for competition. ABEE aims to get in on this action, as it is a peer-to-peer ride-sharing service which involves the use of smart contracts. The Concept of ABEE Ride-sharing and blockchain technology can make for an interesting combination. The ABEE team certainly seems to believe there is a lot of merit to that, as they are looking to merge smart contracts with ride-sharing. All of this will be achieved using the Qtum blockchain infrastructure and the issuance of a native token. How Does it Work? On paper, ABEE is designed to make ride-sharing an activity conducted among “the common people”. Drivers will be able to keep more of their earnings and create their own […]

Facebook Unbans Cryptocurrency Advertisements but Still Disallows ICOs

Multiple technology companies have taken a harsh stance on cryptocurrency advertisements. Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and Twitter have all removed cryptocurrency advertisements from their platforms. Surprisingly, Facebook has already reversed its decision in a very peculiar way. Facebook Changes its Mind The proposed ban on cryptocurrency advertisements on the Facebook platform was not received well by the community. That was not entirely surprising, as Facebook is the largest social media network to date. For cryptocurrency companies as well as ICO projects, it was an easy way to pay for global exposure and potentially attract new users and investors. That situation came to change a few weeks ago. Facebook made it clear that all cryptocurrency-related advertisements would be banned from the platform. Unfortunately for the social media giant, it quickly became apparent that enforcing such a ban would be problematic. Some companies […]
